Tm I ma glad that your “Manhattan project” is over as I was a little scared….
Well, I always thought that I have an open mind and I would not mind to try it. Unfortunately I do not do SS as I afraid of it electrically…
This phonostage of yours, is ...

Hm, I took the anti-RIAA signal converted and run CD player into the phonostage. The RIAA curve was fine and the effect of the HF volume and frequency-depended quantization did not expose itself. So, it looks like the phonostage is not a problem afte...

I play a lot of LP recently and last night I noted that sound was quite bad. It was like a bad electricity day only atop of it sound has some kind of odd digitalization atop of everything. Of course I was blaming the PurePower 3000 but then I realize...

With my resent battle with Shelter and the off the FM session analog renaissance I am playing a lot of records and there is one observation I would like to make. I feed all my 3 “better” tonearms into the “End of Life" Phonostage and I can’t not to m...

[quote user="Romy the Cat"]OK, here are some follow up thoughts after the completion of the project. I am sure I will burn it for a month or so. I think everything will be fine, I do not expect any issuers technical or sonic. The way how the entrance...

Well, frankly this conversation is about nothing in my view as the way how the subject calculated there is no right and wrong in this debate. What is acceptable, what is reasonable, what is effective what is any another adjective to put in… phono...

It is not about low voltage buttery power, tube version with 200 pounds power supply, CRL filtration, no-transformer gain or air capacitors. The topology that we might or might not admit to comply with the concept of “acceptable phonostage” is co...

Oh, David, come on! Can you for a second to stop to be a pretentious been counter and look at the picture from slightly more elevated perspective? I am glad that you do not worship the expensive parts, unique design, and precession of construction of...

OK, I did it. I bought the “second-type” phonostage.
As many of you know I do not reconnect the cables and my first “reference” phonostages is custom made 2-845PT with Expressive SU2 transformer practically hard-bund with my reference arm and my re...

OK, you need to find out if the problem is in phonostage on in TT as the problem was “spanning several turntables and arms”. You might run your phonostage from anti-RIAA filter from your CD player:

or use one of ma...

I spent today a couple hours trying to resolve a quantity with my analog setup. As you remember in the mid of this thread:

I was proud that I eventually found a good configuration for my M...

The news just come inhttp://www.amr-audio.co.uk/html/pr_ph77.htmlThorsten use to tell me that his ambitions phonostage project will be coming through in fall of 2008. Well, it is late but it is there: the AMR announced their new PH-77 Phono Equal...

Perrew,
LCR is not active at all; it is the very same passive EQ as your RC? I think you a bit confused with terminology. The main logical explanation (there are many of them) is that capacitive filtration is very bad one and need to be minimi...

The positive feedback published a review by Marshall Nack of SP-102 Phono Stage: http://www.positive-feedback.com/Issue69/vitus_sp102.htmIt is an interesting review despite that some of the Marshall’s comments do not makes sense at all. I did not he...

Hello Romy,What brand of 0A2 do you use in your phonostage?I used RCA, but after 1.5 years of work it began to spark when phonostage is switched on.I tried Siemens, Mazda and now Sylvania 0A2.Siemens has "disco sound", without mids, just metallic hig...

I would take RL filtration ageist C filtration any time and under any circumstance. If you look at the circuit of 600R LCR classic Tango filter

Yes, I have paid attention to the ridicules noise specification. - 147dB is ever higher then 24bit dynamic range – good luck with those numbers in tube phonostage! They use 'A' weighted measurement that is not kosher from my perspective and juts...

Thanks, Gregm.
My primary concern with all those IC-based phonostages is that they are thin like hell. The audio freaks like it, I do not. I never heard the DACT CT-100 and can not speculate. I have seen this one:

CV, I am sorry for this mischievous teasing but at this point I would like to leave it as it: as the mischievous teasing. The entire project is not over yet: we still evaluating some optimum EQ aspects and screen supplies to make this phonostage bei...

Alex, I think that there is VERY high probability that your hum is from transformer-correctors interfaces. Get rid the transformer, change the loading resistor accordingly and use the corrector with high outpour cartridge, let say over 3mV. If you w...

I do not have good-sounding high output cartridges; my most high-voltage cartridge is SPU MONO that is 3mV I believe. I have 5mV Grado $300 Platinum Ref that is high-voltage cartridge but is sounds not seriously. My desire to bring my 3mV SPU via my ...

Thanks, Keith and Montepilot.
